Moving Back ‘Home’

I’ve been away from this blog for a while! I have been so lucky to have been extremely successful with re-dew interiors in Denver. So busy that I haven’t been able to pay much attention to the blog. I am truly blessed for that!

We’ve had a lot going on in our family over the past few months. Life changes, career changes, changes of heart. Change always spurs the conversation, “what if?” Like, if we could live anywhere, where would we live? That question is a big one in our household. After a lot of thought we have decided to move back to the First Coast of Florida. I can’t really explain it, but it’s always felt like home (even though I’m from New York!). Maybe it’s because I met my husband there, or maybe it’s because my first daughter was born there….or maybe it’s because it just feels right in my heart. It’s hard to say – I just know it’s home.

Neptune Beach, Florida

That being said, we are selling our beloved home here in Denver. It’s a bittersweet feeling for me. This house was a labor of love, and where my business reached heights I never thought it would!

I want to thank Zachary Cornwell for taking such lovely photos of our home. Joe Phillips of Synergy Real Estate is marketing our home (if you, or anyone you know may be interested in our home, click on Joe’s name!). I have had the pleasure of working side by side with Joe over the past couple years staging his listings and helping his new construction buyers create the home of their dreams. It has been a truly wonderful experience, and I will miss working with him.

So, now what? Well, we were lucky enough to find our own little piece of heaven just two blocks away from the ocean in the sleepy little town of Neptune Beach. We are currently working with architect Bob Esposito of Esposito Design to draw plans for our little beach cottage. Here’s a little sneak peek of what we’re working on:

I am super excited about the opportunity to build a new home, and bring my business to the First Coast. I’ve always had a love for coastal design, and I’m really looking forward to building new relationships and bringing my ideas to a whole new group of clients. I will be blogging our progress on this new house right here too! Stay tuned….

One last thing. Just because I may not be living in your city, I can still help you out with your home! I am glad to be a part of the Laurel and Wolf Designer Network. If you’d like to work with me from afar, just click here to get started: Laurel and Wolf Private Design Projects

Defining Spaces: Creating a Gallery Wall

I have always felt that great design has to be a personal effort.  Whenever I meet with a client and we begin a design plan, I always request that we find personal items we can integrate into the design. Not only do these items make the space less sterile, but they give the homeowner a […]

The Evolution of the (Indoor) Outdoor Rug

It’s amazing how once you have kids your complete outlook on decorating changes.  Love that china vase you saw online but are afraid that your now climbing toddler will be able to reach it and down it comes off the shelf?  Do you want to have a beautiful living room, but are afraid that baby […]

Industrial Design: Adding Elements on a Budget

Industrial design.  It’s all the rage right now.  Edison bulbs, a mix of steel and wood.  I have to admit, I really love adding these elements to any decor – but a simple light fixture can go for upwards of $350 or more. Luckily, most affordable home decor companies are now adding industrial elements to […]

How to use Radiant Orchid – Color of the Year 2014

When Pantone announced this year’s color earlier this month, all I could think about was how my 8 year old daughter was going to go bananas.  For about two years now, Caroline has been asking me to change the very young, girlie, pink and green palette in her room to PURPLE.  Yes, purple!  The only […]

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome! I’m April Carney – a wife, a mom, and a great lover of interior design.  After years of being asked by friends to help me decorate their homes, I have finally decided it’s time – and now that I actually have the time (after having two kids) to have my own interior decorating business. […]
